What to wear during your pregnancy

Fret not, pregnant friends! Nine months of wearing baggy-fitting clothing is not your unfortunate fate. This is a happy time in your life, so forget the basic black stretchy pants and opt for fashions that make you feel bright, look your best, and accentuate your belly.
What’s the trick? Continuing to wear what you love while you’re not pregnant with a few tweaks to fit your growing belly.

Certain silhouettes are especially flattering on your changing shape: empire waists on dresses or tops, swingy skirts and maxi dresses, loose tunics, and bathing suits with rouching around the belly. As for patterns, you should feel as comfortable wearing paisley or stripes as you do solids – flaunting your curves is more flattering than being overly body-conscious. Besides, all-over prints distribute focus to your whole body, not just your tummy or breasts.

Of course, comfort is of supreme importance. Look for skirts, shorts and jeans with fold-over waistbands or extra panels that will adjust to your growing belly. Invest in cropped cardigans or jackets for layering and keeping your warm, and to elongate your body – they’ll help emphasize the small of your waist, above the bump.

Accessories will give you more mileage with any outfit. Splurge a little on statement necklaces, bracelets and scarves to amplify your basic pieces. The best part? You can wear them after your pregnancy!
Even if you can’t afford a completely new wardrobe, the items we’ve chosen should give you an idea of select items you can add to your closet to stay fashionable and feel great before your bundle of joy arrives.

Congratulations!
